Default Vanquishing Ice Floe

I'm stuck trying to vanquish Ice Floe but those damn imps are getting the better of me all the time and its just party wipe after party wipe. Has anyone got a decent hero set up to get me round this? I'm an Ele and can pretty much run any bar you can think of and with all nightfall and gwen heros (and skills) at my disposal I'm open to all suggestions. I've started all my runs from Grotto, would it be better to try from Thunderhead Keep or is this not really an issue?

Thanks in advance for any assistance you can give

Ice Imps? And you're an Elementalist?

I'd suggest taking Maelstrom, or bringing a BHA ranger hero.

I'm about to vanquish Ice Floe, so I can't tell you a strategy that will work for this area. What I can tell you is that ice imps are best handled by tanks, seeing as they can kill casters quite easy. I'm playing as ursan warrior and have no problems with them (neither do my heroes).
Maybe you need to team up with a tank, so he takes most of their spells, leaving you alone to nuke them. In case you're not using one, bringing a MM helps a lot.
Hope this helps. Good luck!

If you do bring a tank, you can use shadow-stepping to avoid the 90% snare on Mind Freeze. Would also recommend a BHA, maybe with Epidemic disabled (they spam it on everything, micro it or enable when it's ideal). Reckless Haste and Enfeebling Blood helps with the jade armor/bows if they're causing you any trouble.

Or bring a monk with spell breaker and have him cast it on you..then you run in and take all the malestroms and own them with searing flames. Don't run obsi flesh because then you have to run in earth line and fire damage>ice imps. So bring a monk with spellbreaker(echo it if you want) have him cast on you and run in and own them.

Glyph sac/meteor strike ftw. It also helps to flag koss (or whoever your tank hero is) in first to eat all their initial spells.

Send in a person to take all the hits, (Pre-protted ofcourse) And Glyph of sacrefice/ Meteor shower them, Or place a Meastrom on them.

As for the imps, they're not the worst part.
The worst part is the group with 1 mursaat/jade boss paired with around 20 other mursaat, and they refuse to split.

I've done that part way before EoTn, and I can tell you, it was hell back then xD. Now it should be do-able though.

I second this suggestion. Also Spell Breaker causes them to waste their spells (the spells fail), while Obsidian Flesh makes them wait until they can drop their maelstrom on another target (they can't target you with spells).
So SB >> OF.

Best bet is to send your BHA ranger ahead to "tank" the imps. This accomplishes several things:

1. BHA ranger is closer to the targets, meaning interrupts have a greater chance to succeed;
2. The targets waste their spells on the BHA ranger, who has a base 100AL against elemental damage;
3. You don't need to bring a tank.

As an elementalist, you could also consider bringing Searing Flames and a They're On Fire! paragon hero to "tank" for you. Generally, ToF is only worth it if you're not walking around with a minion army to suck up the damage, but the paragon hero could also have Go For the Eyes! to power up the minions, and Cynn can set off your Mark of TROGDOR... so it's really up to you.

Oh, and just in case it isn't clear, bring both hench monks with you but flag them back so they don't rush in and die

The best way I've found to handle Imps is to flag my heros and have myself arcane echo PI on 2 imps....allowing them to focus on me. I then unflag my heros to rush in and take them out. The larger mob in the NW corner took me 2 runs at it, but it was has worked for me.

I run Ursan with Sab's Necros with 2 healer, tank, and ele for hench.

True, all must rotate about SB... use SB on you mursats or ice imps will waste all spells on you and its make all diference..., important bring something to kill the RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing mursats monks, and i not kiding, broad arrow, rit with wanderlust, mesmer with diversion you chosse it but.. bring it or you will face 20 min like me to kill a RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing mursat monk boss... i close to finish vanish and dont want to restart it... and forget how hard is a mursat monk boss if not rdy for them...

I did it a few days ago with Sabway for heroes and
and i used an ele/mesmer

Mantra of Flame (6 to inspiration)
glyph of cencentration
Meteor Shower
Mindblast
Searing heat or Teinai heat
Fire Attunement
Pain Inverter
Aura of Restoration

Pinned henches.
Cast fire attunemnt
aura of Restore
mantra of flame

then got closer and used glyph of cencentration
Meteor Shower searing heat
unpinned heroes
Cleaned up with pain inverter and mind blast

It was slow but it worked.
